McNary is our coolest vineyard, planted on basalt cliffs overlooking the Columbia River in the Horse Heaven Hills. This stunning, panoramic vineyard is tempered by the proximity to the river and intense winds allowing for longer hang time for flavor development. Wines from McNary Vineyard lean old-world in style, with richness and varietal typicity.
Winemaking notes:
These blocks were picked on October 10-17 and fermented for 10 days. We used a combination of gentle pump overs and delestage to manage extraction. The wine was aged on both French and American oak staves with micro-oxygenation for 9 months before release.
Tasting Notes
Rich and fruit-forward, with bright berry aromas and dark cherry layered with spicy fig jam. Notes of leather add savory depth, while a touch of cinnamon and spice brings warmth and complexity. The palate is plush and smooth, with ripe dark fruit, subtle earthy undertones, and a lingering, softly spiced finish.
