Winemaker's Notes: It is rare that the results of our experiments turn into true treasures, but the 2023 Studio Syrah from McNary is a perfect example of this. Mostly untouched after its 18-month aging in 20% new French oak, the wine needed little intervention, as it developed beautifully on its own. The Studio Syrah displays a deep purple hue and exudes rich, savory aromas of bramble and toasted herbs. These aromas go beyond the typical, adding notes of baking spices and caramel candies. On the palate, the wine is expansive and full-bodied, yet precise and direct. We look forward to keeping this one in our cellars for a few more years, as it has much more to reveal, and it’s a wine we are eager to share for years to come.
